My Digital Footprints is hosting a Grand Opening event at Willard High School, Willard, OH in the HS/MS Auditeria on Monday, December 18, 2017! The event is scheduled from 6pm-7:30pm. Those in attendance receive a free "My Digital Footprints" t-shirt and wristband. Pizza, drinks and other snacks will also be provided following the event.
The event features guest speakers Britain Bennett and Alexandria Giering. Britain Bennett is an accomplished community activist. She has spearheaded several projects, including “TBH” Anti-Bullying Campaign and the “3 Musketeers” program for helping teens spread joy and positivity. She is a wonderful anti-bullying advocate, as well a strong leader for digital citizenship and online safety. Miss Bennett has worked with the television network TLC and appeared on an episode of Coach Charming discussing her personal experiences with bullying. She also created an anti-bullying YouTube video with Madame Secretary Hillary Clinton. Most recently, she founded "Be a S.M.A.R.T. Parent Day" in Erie County, Ohio and serves as an Ambassador for Paul Mitchell's new line of hair products, "Neon", which promote an anti-bullying theme. Britain will share some ideas and information about all of these topics and how they come together to form our digital footprints. Lastly, she will provide some tips for managing our digital footprints in an age of ever-evolving technologies and online tools.
Alexandria Giering is the Statewide Outreach Coordinator for the Ohio Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force. Miss Giering will share some real-life stories of how the online activities of others have affected their lives and the lives of those around them. These will serve as an example to all of us, the importance of our online behaviors and habits.
